Main Lesson
Making the decision to invest in commercial real estate is equal parts exciting and filled with opportunity — whether you’re using it as a cash flow vehicle for a brick-and-mortar business, have decided to rent properties or have chosen to make real estate a long-term investment.
But before you sign the dotted line on your dream property, it’s important to have a complete understanding of the commercial real estate world — and that extends far beyond the selling price. In our third Money Smart Week session, a panel of experts — representing three facets of the commercial real estate field — answered questions from budding investors on a range of topics, such as trends in commercial real estate, negotiating deals, interest rates, regulatory changes and tax benefits. Panelists also addressed pros and cons around buying existing properties as a form of income versus buying properties for new development.
After more than an hour of engaging discussion and conversation, it’s safe to say that all attendees — including us! — walked away with a renewed perspective on the commercial real estate market and what it takes to make an investment a success.
